Description

Full-time academic staff position in Bioinformatics Core facility. Duties involve -omics data analysis as a service, principally next-generation sequencing data, including genomics, transcriptomics, epigenomics, metagenomics, as well as metabolomics and proteomics. This position will provide analytical support services to the UIC and Chicago-area research community.


Qualifications

Main qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a biological sciences or related field required. Master’s or Doctoral degree in biological sciences or informatics strongly preferred, or equivalent 2 years specific experience in DNA sequence/microarray informatics.
Demonstrated understanding of sequence analysis methods.
Familiarity with the Linux &/or Unix computing environments.
Proficiency in Python, Perl, Bash or other programming or scripting language.
Experience in scriptable statistical packages as R.
Experience in handling of diverse bioinformatics needs of scientists.
Successfully demonstrated communication, writing and organization skills.
The ability to relate biological processes to mathematical models that can be solved computationally.
