A 3-year postdoctoral position is open in the Functional Gene Control group at MRC London Institute for Medical Sciences (LMS) led by Dr Mikhail Spivakov (lms.mrc.ac.uk/research-group/functional-gene-control/ and functionalgenecontrol.group). We combine experimental and computational approaches to study the logic of gene regulation, with a particular emphasis on the function of DNA elements such as enhancers in gene regulatory networks and on human primary cells as experimental systems. Examples of our recent work include Freire-Pritchett et al., eLife 2017, Javierre et al., Cell 2016, and the Chicago R package for Capture Hi-C analysis (Cairns et al., Genome Biol 2016).
You will join an international, multidisciplinary team within a collaborative and stimulating research environment, with strong links with other groups at the LMS and beyond.
You will have a PhD, a strong background in a biomedical science or quantitative discipline (mathematics, statistics, physics, computer science), as well as prior experience in generating and/or interrogating data from high-throughput genomics assays. Competence in the analysis of chromosomal interactions and cis-regulatory networks is particularly relevant, and a track record in devising novel experimental and/or computational techniques is desirable. The ideal applicant will have a dual wet- and dry-lab expertise, but strong candidates from either one of these backgrounds are also encouraged to apply.
For full details of this post and to complete an online application, visit mrc.tal.net/vx/lang-en-GB/appcentre-1/candidate/postings/1042 and upload your CV, names and contacts of two scientific references along with a covering letter stating why you are applying for this role (providing evidence against the requirements of the job and your motivation).
