We are seeking an exceptional Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor to deliver outstanding research in bioinformatics and integrative genomics with a focus in cancer research. The successful candidate will be based within the Adult Cancer Program of the Prince of Wales Clinical School at the Lowy Cancer Research Centre, UNSW Sydney.
The Adult Cancer Program encompasses wet- and dry- lab cancer research groups based at UNSW Sydney’s biomedical precinct on the Randwick campus as well as clinical research groups based at the adjacent Prince of Wales Hospital and the Royal Hospital for Women. Cancer research on campus is concentrated within the Lowy Cancer Research Centre, which includes the Adult Cancer Program, the Children’s Cancer Institute and the EMBL single molecular sciences program. The Mark Wainwright and Ramaciotti centres, provide core services including animal husbandry, biomedical imaging, flow cytometry, mass spectrometry, genomics and bio-repository services to researchers on campus. The Prince of Wales Clinical School coordinates undergraduate medical teaching at the Prince of Wales Hospital and postgraduate research conducted by research groups affiliated with the Prince of Wales Hospital and the Randwick campus. The appointment is;
• Salary Range is $125k to $164k, plus 17% superannuation and leave loading. Salary will be commensurate with academic qualifications and experience
• Full Time, Convertible Tenure Track Employment Contract for an initial fixed term period of 5 years, with conversion to continuing appointment based on satisfactory performance
About the successful applicant
For appointment as a Senior Research Fellow, the successful applicant will hold a PhD in computational biology or a related discipline. In addition, the successful candidate will have an outstanding research record in a relevant area; excellent computing, data analysis and communication skills; highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary research team as well as independently; a capacity and willingness to participate in the development of institutional links and collaborative research programs; and a demonstrated ability to develop funding applications.
For appointment as an Associate Professor, the successful applicant in addition to Senior Research Fellow qualifications, will have published in top tier journals; recognised research leader with an international profile and track record in attracting category 1 science or medical research funding and experience in postgraduate student supervision.
