Description

The Computational Biology Department in the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University is seeking a Systems Scientist to play a leading role in an NIH-funded effort to create a 3D molecular and anatomical map of the human body. Working as the lead software and computational tool developer for the CMU-based team, the candidate is expected to develop and adapt software tools for the analysis of high-throughput imaging and genomics data and apply them to new data collected as part of the project. In concert with the PI for this project, the candidate would oversee several programmers at CMU and at other locations, work with collaborating centers to establish data formats, APIs and schemas for the software developed, and help determine procedures for data analysis and quality control.

This is a unique opportunity to join an outstanding team that is working on one of the most important challenges in computational and systems biology and to collaborate with leading experimental and computational researchers in the US and abroad. Systems Scientists in the School of Computer Science are appointed as part of the Systems Faculty with associated faculty status (see www.cs.cmu.edu/~scsdean/FacultyPage/SystemsAppointments.htm).
