• The Computational Scientist will contribute to fundamental science research programs studying microbial communities and environmental microbiology.
• The successful candidate will be expected to lead computational biology methods development and validation for analysis of metabolomics and proteomics data from high-throughput mass spectrometry platforms.
• The candidate will be expected to work directly with experimental biologists in interdisciplinary teams, and to contribute to presentations and journal articles.
• Experience with high performance computing platforms, statistical computing and data integration methods is highly desirable.
• Successful candidates will have experience working as part of a team, strong verbal and written communication skills, and effective time-management skills.


Qualifications

PhD in Computational Biology or related field
The ideal candidate will have a track record for interdisciplinary research, particularly in the analysis of proteomic and metabolomic data, and be proficient in one or more scripting languages (Perl, Python), as well as one or more statistical computing languages (R or MatLab). He/she should have a strong fundamental biology background with significant statistical computing experience. The candidate should have excellent communication skills with a demonstrated interest in multi-disciplinary, collaborative research. The candidate should also have an interest in applying new approaches and knowledge to science problems associated with the underlying physiological and biological mechanisms of import to carbon cycling or bioenergy.
