The Kentucky Biomedical Research Infrastructure Network (KBRIN) is an NIH funded research enhancement program based at the University of Louisville. KBRIN is seeking an outstanding bioinformatics/computational biology Postdoctoral Scientist to join our interdisciplinary team in the KBRIN Bioinformatics Core working on aspects of Big Data in Bio-medicine with a focus on applications in human diseases including cancer. The bioinformatics components of these projects involve systems biology approaches for the algorithmic development and integration of genomic variant information and RNA transcriptomics with data being analyzed from other groups at the University of Louisville, including high-throughput sequencing, image, and behavioral data.
The successful candidate will be expected to integrate into a larger workgroup of bioinformatics researchers and potentially collaborate across departments, and schools. Review of candidates will begin immediately and continue until the position are filled.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, Biostatistics, or a related discipline
Strong programming skills
Highly motivated, creative, and dedicated to project goals
Able to work in close collaboration with a variety of biomedical and computational researchers
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience with transcriptomic and genomic data
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Papers published in peer-reviewed journals
Experience with high-throughput sequencing data analysis
Experience with various bioinformatics platforms and languages (Linux, R, Python, MySQL, etc.)
