Description

The SUNY Upstate Medical University seeks a well-motivated bioinformatician to join a laboratory of Bioinformatics, Genome and Transriptome Data Analysis and Quantitative Oncology (prof. VA Kuznetsov). The Bioinformatician will be responsible for the cancer genomics, RNA/DNA biology and clinical data analyses, maintaining the existing and developing new pipelines, bioinformatics databases and algorithms, developing and maintaining the server infrastructure of the lab in collaboration with IT department. Must have excellent programming skills in at least one programming language such as R, Perl, Python, C++ and strong knowledge of Apache-SQL-PHP, utilize Unix/Linus operating system, and experience with wide bioinformatics tools. Experience with cloud services is a plus. Other requests: Strong experience in cancer genomics and the next generation sequencing data analysis. Ability to multitask works maintain well-documented, tested codes and improve robust and highly automated computational pipelines, interpret results from NGS, experimental and biomedical data analyses. Use and develop machine learning, multivariate and big data-driven analyses, interact with other researchers from diverse scientific backgrounds. Demonstrate strong communication and writing skills exercising good judgment in terms of grant application/publication deadlines. Provide a contribute towards publications.


Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computational biology, computer science, bioinformatics, statistics or other related analytical discipline and 1-2 years experience required. Masters degree preferred.
