Florida Hospital Orlando seeks to hire Senior Research Scientist who will embrace our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.

Located on a lush tropical campus, our flagship hospital, 1,107-bed Florida Hospital Orlando, serves as the major tertiary facility for much of the Southeast, the Caribbean and South America. Florida Hospital Orlando houses one of the largest Emergency Departments and largest cardiac catheterization labs in the country. We are already one of the busiest hospitals in the nation, providing service excellence to more than 32,000 inpatients and 125,000 outpatients each year.

The Research Scientist, Bioinformatics, under the direction of the Scientific Director, Director, will be responsible for analyzing complex data sets from a variety of platforms including: genome-wide transcriptomic (e.g. RNA-seq, microarray) data sets, epigenomics, proteomics and metabolomics. Qualified candidates will be proficient in applying standard analysis tools and algorithms for next-generation sequencing analyses, possess strong analytical skills, a working knowledge of biostatistics, and an ability to work in a collaborative, multi-stakeholder environment. Ability to represent the Bioinformatics needs of the TRI-MD and investigators in multi-institutional partnerships and projects. The Research Scientist, Bioinformatics will ensure that all research performed under their direction is in compliance with all Florida Hospital, TRI, local, state, and federal laws, policies and procedures. 

The Translational Research Institute for Metabolism and Diabetes (TRI-MD) Senior Research Scientist – Metabolic Disease provides leadership through participating in federal and non-federally sponsored clinical and translational research at TRI-MD. Develops novel research ideas and fosters collaboration with TRI-MD faculty members and external partners and seeks external funding to support these ideas. The Senior Scientist provides mentorship and guidance to TRI-MD Research Scientists as appropriate, and ensures all research performed under his/her direction is in compliance with all Florida Hospital and TRI policies and procedures and local, state, and federal laws. 

Work Hours/Shifts: Mon – Fri/ 8a – 5p


Qualifications

Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences with two-three years of experience in Biomedical Sciences OR
Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences with ten years of experience in Biomedical Sciences
Clinical and/or translational research experience in industry, academic or contract research organization
Established competency in research as evidenced by published (peer-reviewed) research
Experience with all aspects of clinical research including clinical protocol development, study execution and study close out
Minimum of two years working in a team environment with experience leading clinical research projects
Knowledge of regulatory requirements that pertain to clinical/medical research
Knowledge of the development and operation of clinical research protocols
Experience in investigator or sponsor-initiated research in a clinical research setting
NIH and/or Pharmaceutical research in the areas of metabolic disease or biomarker development (Preferred)
Two years of relevant experience working with clinical study budgets and other aspects of clinical operations (Preferred)
