Description

We are seeking a Scientific Database Curator, to join the Molecular Systems team at the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI) located on the Wellcome Genome Campus near Cambridge in the UK.

The Database Curator will contribute to the maintenance and extension of the IntAct molecular interaction database and the Complex Portal. The main tasks are the analysis of published literature on protein interactions and their integration into the IntAct database and the abstraction of information to create reference protein complexes, with a focus on how sequence variation affects interaction outcome. The successful candidate will also interact with external data producers and international partner databases through the IMEx Consortium to ensure highest quality standards for the resulting molecular interaction data. Funding for this position is limited to 2 years.

At EMBL-EBI, we help scientists realise the potential of ‘big data’ in biology by enabling them to exploit complex information to make discoveries that benefit mankind. Working for EMBL-EBI gives you an opportunity to apply your skills and energy for the greater good. The post holder should be able to work independently and interact well within a team environment. Good communication and interpersonal skills as well as a working knowledge of English language are essential.

Benefits
