Description

The Mersha Lab has an opening for a Research Fellow who will be involved in a combined computational and applied genetics project, focused on the development and implementation of ancestry (admixture) based detection and characterization of genetic and environmental exposure risk factors in asthma. The primary goal is to develop and implement statistical methods to analyze high-throughput sequence and array data and maintain large datasets linked to clinical data. The ideal candidate will have a doctoral degree in bioinformatics, computer science, computational biology, genomics, statistical genetics, or a related field, experience in population genetics analysis of admixed population or data simulation and imputation, programming skills in R, Perl, Python, Java, C++, and Unix shell scripting, and a track record of analyzing sequence data, along with a strong work ethic, excellent written and oral communication skills, and demonstrated teamwork and multitasking skills. Experience with clinical cohorts is a plus.
