The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is recruiting a full-time, tenure-stream faculty member of any rank. The responsibility of this position is to hold a faculty position in the Division of Health Informatics (with potential for a secondary appointment in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at the University of Pittsburgh) and lead the Bioinformatics Core at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, which will support genomic, epigenomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, and metabolomic analysis. The bioinformatics core will play a critical role in the development and execution of the Pittsburgh Study, “the Framingham Study for child health,” which will isolate correlates of health by following birth cohorts to adulthood with maximally broad data collection.
The competitive applicant will have a transformative research program with transferable extramural funding, a commitment to harnessing and promoting the breadth of computational molecular biology, and a vision for a comprehensive consultation and quantitative analysis core. This is a foundational position in a new division crafted to meet demand for analysis in basic, clinical, and translational research at an institution that ranks seventh in NIH funding (FY17). We are looking for a candidate who is hungry for multiple, multidisciplinary, and collaborative research programs.
Candidates must have a PhD and a commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and mentoring. The Department of Pediatrics offers competitive set-up funds, a collegial environment, and a collaborative culture.
Interested candidates should forward their CV/resume to:
