The Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) at the University of Luxembourg is seeking an enthusiastic team member for the following position:

Software engineer for web-based translational medicine knowledge management and analysis tools (m/f)

Ref. : 50012182 (FNR NCER PD)
Fixed-term contract of 2 years,
Full-time position, 40h/week, extension possible
Employee status (start date: as soon as possible)
The Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) is an interdisciplinary research centre at the University of Luxembourg. LCSB develops and applies systems-level approaches to gain insight into the molecular and cellular mechanisms of human diseases. Experimental and computational approaches are combined to analyse the complexity of biological systems underlying disease pathogenesis. The LCSB is pioneering the way for a predictive, preventive and personalised medicine. Neurodegenerative diseases, especially Parkinson’s disease are major targets within LCSB’s research activities.

We are looking for a software engineer to develop web-based knowledge management tools, implementation of bioinformatics analysis algorithms, GUI design and implementation.

Your Role

Develop new web applications for reporting the progress and results of research projects
Clinical, omics, imaging and wearable-device data integration
Develop and deploy scalable data repository solutions
Work closely with other team members on the design and implementation of data analysis workflows and visualization tools
Bring new IT/bioinformatics data analysis workflows and pipelines to the community.


Qualifications

Your Profile

A Un computer science, computational biology, bioinformatics, with an interest in biomedical informatics and translational medicine.
Strong computer programming (Python, JavaScript, HTML/CSS) skills and knowledge of web framework (Django) and RDBMS (MySQL or PostgreSQL) are a requirement.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate clearly the scientific and technical needs and to work within an interdisciplinary setting, communicating with other internal/external partners.
The following expertise are considered an advantage but NOT mandatory:
Track record in production-level software project including unit testing and using agile software development;
Prior experience dealing with clinical and omics data integration, R, NoSQL database technologies (e.g. MongoDB) and Elasticsearch.
