Description

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) is offering an unprecedented academic opportunity for new research faculty to join our recently expanded computational oncology initiative, under the leadership of Sohrab Shah, PhD. We seek to develop and grow world-leading research excellence in new areas of computational analysis as applied to high dimensional clinical and biological data. For example, in a major institutional initiative MSK has performed prospective clinical tumor sequencing on over 20,000 patients, leading to exciting and unique opportunities to deploy data science, machine learning and artificial intelligence methods at scale. Furthermore, new technologies such as single cell sequencing applied to the study of cancer evolution and cell population dynamics in cancer are now widely deployed but demand new analytical techniques in order to optimally interpret biological properties. Our goals are focused on extracting new and meaningful properties from these and other datasets to develop and improve diagnostic and prognostic tools and to further biological discovery.

We seek to recruit early and mid-career investigators with expertise in the fields of artificial intelligence, machine learning, statistics or computer science to develop independent research programs in the sub-disciplines of computational biology and bioinformatics applied to cancer. Areas of emphasis include but are not limited to: multi-modal clinical data integration (e.g. cross-sectional imaging, digital histopathology and genomics); and mathematical and statistical modeling of cancer evolution (e.g. analysis and interpretation on single cell genomics/transcriptomics/epigenomics data). Applicants must possess a PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Statistics or a related discipline and a demonstrated track record of excellence in academic research productivity. Interested candidates should send a cover letter indicating the reason for the application, curriculum vitae, research plan and the names and contact information for at least 3 references to Katherine Cheung at wongk1@mskcc.org (646-888-8301) [Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, 485 Lexington Avenue, New York, NY 10017].

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center is an equal opportunity employer with a strong commitment to enhancing the diversity of its faculty and staff. Women and applicants from diverse racial, ethnic and cultural backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
