Icahn Genomics and Multiscale Biology Institute at Mount Sinai School of Medicine invites applications for a senior bioinformatician position. The group focuses on developing computational methods to best leverage the biomedical data generated at Mount Sinai, from external collaborators, and/or existed in the public domain. Our goal is to better understand human aging and how it links to various age-related diseases to help the development of interventions to extend human healthspan.
Work expectation
Perform computational analysis on various omics data (NGS, gene expression, single cell, etc.)
Design and implement novel analytical approaches to better understand biological system
Present results in internal and external group meetings.
Prepare manuscripts and publish results in peer reviewed journals and present the work at national conferences.
Candidates need to have a PhD degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, mathematics, statistics, computer science, or related majors.
1-2 years postdoctoral training is expected but exceptional candidates without such training will be considered with a demonstration of strong publication and/or training records.
Minimum 3 years’ hands-on experience on biological “omics” data analysis (e.g., NGS data processing) and supportive publication records
Strong skills in at least one programming language, preferably R and python and experience with Unix/Linux computing environment.
Knowledge and some experience with machine learning skills are desirable.
Basic knowledge of molecular biology will be helpful but is not necessary.
Candidates with less experience and who do not meet all the qualifications are also encouraged to apply but may be considered for a postdoctoral level position.
Interested candidates should submit CV, and names with contact information of three referees to Dr. Zhidong Tu ( zhidong dot tu at mssm dot edu).
