Description

The Brown Center for Biomedical Informatics (BCBI) is inviting applications for multiple two-year Postdoctoral Research Associates, with particular emphasis for candidates with backgrounds in Data Science or Global Health Informatics. BCBI was established in 2015 as a transdisciplinary center with partnerships across the entire biomedical and health community of Brown University. This is a unique opportunity to join a growing biomedical informatics program with strong academic, hospital, and government partnerships that span basic research, health care, and public health. The successful candidate will join a specific laboratory or group within BCBI and work under the guidance of a primary mentor.

Initial review of applications will begin on May 15, 2018, and continue until the positions are filled.

Responsibilities:

* Participate in ongoing biomedical informatics initiatives involving collaborators across Brown University, hospital affiliates, and statewide healthcare organizations
* Design new studies and develop grant proposals focused on leveraging electronic biomedical or health data to support healthcare delivery and biomedical discovery
* Publish abstracts and full-length manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals, as well as present at local, national, and international venues
* Mentor undergraduate, graduate, and medical students


Qualifications

Doctoral-level degree (e.g., PhD in biomedical informatics, computer science, statistics, mathematics, or related field); Clinical doctorates will also be considered (e.g., MD, DO, DDS, DVM, DNSc, DrPH, or PharmD)

Less than five years of postdoctoral experience

Experience with clinical informatics research projects, such as those involving electronic health records, clinical documentation, or clinical decision support in the US or internationally

Foundational or applied knowledge in workflow analysis and process redesign, predictive modeling, machine learning, information retrieval, natural language processing, or data mining

Strong computational, communication, and writing skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a transdisciplinary team
