Description

We are looking for a postdoctoral Research Associate to join an exciting collaboration between the groups of Dr Nicolas Le Novère (lenoverelab.org/) and the team of Dr Sanjay Sinha (www.cardiovascular.cam.ac.uk/directory/ssinha). The position is funded through the BHF Centre of Regenerative Medicine (www.cardiovascular.cam.ac.uk/research/oxbridgecrm), one of three national research hubs specialising in cardiovascular regeneration.

The Sinha group research is based on the hypothesis that the human epicardium contributes to heart regeneration after injury. We have pioneered the generation of epicardium from human embryonic and induced pluripotent stem cells (hESC and hiPSC) (Iyer et al., Development 2015;142:1528-41). We are using this in vitro system to understand the molecular regulation of epicardial function, and to produce cells and identify potential new drugs for regenerative medicine.

The focus of this exciting position will be to analyse data obtained from various single-cell multi-omics methods, including transcriptomics, epigenetics marks and chromatin accessibility, applied to the in vitro generated epicardium, human foetal epicardium samples and mouse or zebrafish pre- and post-infarction hearts. The successful applicant will work closely with Dr Sanjay Sinha at the Centre of Regenerative Medicine, with Dr Nicolas Le Novère at the Babraham Institute, with Professor Paul Riley (www.dpag.ox.ac.uk/team/paul-riley) and Professor Ludovic Vallier (www.cardiovascular.cam.ac.uk/directory/lvallier).

Qualifications

The successful applicant will have a PhD (or equivalent) with a background in bioinformatics and a publication record. Experience with the analysis of NGS data is essential, as are programming skills, in particular in R and Python. It is important that you have written and communication skills, are organised and have the ability to work collaboratively with experimental and computational colleagues.
