Postdoctoral Position in Bioinformatics / Functional Genomics

Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School
Channing Division of Network Medicine
United States MA Boston

Description

The Channing Division of Network Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital is looking for exceptional postdoctoral fellowship candidates to join the Systems Genetics and Genomics group to advance research in respiratory disease, with a focus on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), the third leading cause of death in the United States.

Our group has led some of the largest and most comprehensive genetic and multi-omic studies in this disease, including identifying novel genetic associations and performing functional studies to identify new disease pathways. Fellows will work with an interdisciplinary team, consisting of geneticists and genetic epidemiologists, biostatisticians, computational biologists, and translational scientists and clinicians, including biostatistics faculty at the Harvard School of Public Health. The fellow will work on one of several R01 funded projects including analysis of large-scale whole-genome sequencing data; transcriptome and epigenome data; and integrative analysis. The candidate will work directly with Dr. Michael Cho, in collaboration with Dr. Edwin Silverman, Professor of Medicine and Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women's Hospital, and Chief of the Division of Network Medicine.

Brigham and Women’s is consistently ranked one of the top 10 hospitals in the United States, and the second largest recipient of NIH funding among independent hospitals, with over 1000 principal investigators. The Division of Network Medicine is a research division within the Department of Medicine whose goal is to define the etiology and reclassify complex disease using network- and systems-based approaches. This group includes some of the largest population-based and pulmonary cohorts in the world, and an outstanding track record of mentoring.

We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.

Qualified candidates should submit their CV, the names of two references, and a cover letter to Dr. Michael Cho (remhc@channing.harvard.edu)
