Description

We are seeking to fill positions for three postdoctoral researchers in the domain of bioinformatics and computational biology at the Computational Bioscience Research Center at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology.

Positions 1&2:
The researchers will work in the Knowledge Mining Lab of Prof. Vladimir Bajic (www.kaust.edu.sa/en/study/faculty/vladimir-bajic). The group works heavily on the analysis of biomedical data and has strong collaborations links. The postdoctoral researchers will work on the development and application of Artificial Intelligence and signal processing, as well as conventional bioinformatics methods in bioinformatics and computational biology, aiming at extracting useful information from various biomedical data with a particular focus on systems biology approaches. Some of the application domains are in drug repurposing, diagnostic biomarkers, metagenomics, industrial and pharmaceutically important enzymes and peptides, annotation of functions of genes and proteins, etc.

Position 3:
The researcher will work in the Structural and Functional Bioinformatics Group led by Prof. Xin Gao (sfb.kaust.edu.sa). The group works on developing novel machine learning techniques, building computational models, and designing efficient and effective algorithms to solve keep open problems in sequence analysis, structural biology, systems biology and synthetic biology. Examples of the application domains are in methodology development in nanopore sequencing, single particle cryo-EM, protein structure and function prediction, modeling of gene regulatory networks, and biosynthesis pathway design.
