Description

Multiple postdoctoral fellow positions in RNA bioinformatics and genomics are available in Dr. Yi Xing’s lab (xinglab.github.io/). The central interest of our lab is to elucidate the variation, regulation, and function of alternative RNA processing and modification in mammalian cells. We develop computational and statistical methods for analyzing transcriptome complexity and alternative mRNA isoform expression using high-throughput technologies (PNAS, 2014, 111(51):E5593–5601; Genome Biology, 2013, 14:R74; Nature Communications, 2016, 7:11548; Nature Methods, 2016, 13:692–698; Genome Biology, 2017, 18:143). We also use computational and genomic methods to elucidate RNA regulatory networks in health and disease (Cell Stem Cell, 2014, 15(6):707–719; Molecular Cell, 2014, 56(2):298-310; Neuron, 2014, 81(2):294-305; Elife, 2015, 4:e08954; Genome Biology, 2016, 17:15; Cell Reports, 2016, 15(2):247–255; American Journal of Human Genetics, 2018, 102(1):11-26).

1. Postdoctoral Fellow in RNA Bioinformatics: We are looking for a computational biology postdoctoral fellow to conduct cutting-edge research in the fields of transcriptome bioinformatics and RNA systems biology. The postdoctoral fellow will develop computational and statistical methods to elucidate the variation and dynamics of RNA regulatory networks using big data and systems biology driven approaches, and apply these methods to large-scale genomic and transcriptomic datasets including massive clinical RNA-seq data. We are looking for enthusiastic and career-oriented applicants with strong experience and publication record in statistical genomics, computational biology, RNA bioinformatics, or related fields. The successful candidate will work in a hybrid computational and experimental environment with excellent resources and capabilities for data production and experimental validation. He/she will also interact with world-class collaborators in the fields of statistics, computational biology, biomedical sciences, and RNA biology.

2. Postdoctoral Fellow in RNA Genomics: We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow to develop novel genomic tools for studying alternative splicing or RNA modifications, and apply these tools to elucidate alternative mRNA and protein isoform complexity in cancer or brain diseases. The applicants should have a Ph.D. in molecular biology, genetics, or related fields with experience in RNA biology. The successful candidate will work in a hybrid computational and experimental environment with constant interactions with computational biology and clinical colleagues. This position provides excellent training and career development opportunities in genomics, bioinformatics, and translational science.
