Description

We are seeking an outstanding bioinformatics Postdoctoral Scientist to join our interdisciplinary team in the University of Louisville Bioinformatics and Biomedical Computing laboratory working on aspects of Big Data in Biomedicine with a focus on applications in autism, ophthalmology, and cardiology. The bioinformatics components of these projects involve systems biology approaches for the algorithmic development and integration of genomic variant information and RNA transcriptomics with data being analyzed from other groups at the University of Louisville, including image and behavioral data.

The successful candidate will be expected to integrate into a larger workgroup of bioinformatics researchers and potentially collaborate across departments, schools, and universities affiliated with the statewide Kentucky Biomedical Research Infrastructure Network (KBRIN). Review of candidates will begin immediately and continue until the position are filled.


Qualifications

Basic Requirements:
• PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related discipline
• Strong programming skills
• Highly motivated, creative, and dedicated to project goals
• Able to work in close collaboration with a variety of biomedical and computational researchers
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience with transcriptomic and genomic data

Preferred Requirements:
• At least two first-author papers published in peer-reviewed journals
• Experience with high throughput sequencing
• Experience with various bioinformatics platforms and languages (Linux, R, Python, MySQL, etc.)
