VL49 is seeking a computational biologist to join our expanding team as a part of our development group. The position requires broad technical experience in computational biology, emphasizing the development of novel methods for interrogating high content ‘omics data and improvement of existing approaches. This individual will contribute scientific, technical, and leadership expertise to a multidisciplinary team, emphasizing conceptualization, experimentation, data analysis, presentation, and strategic planning.


Qualifications

Key Responsibilities:
• Work on data analysis and ML solutions that address high-throughput biomolecular profiling data in the life sciences
• Design and invent new approaches and algorithms that will fundamentally change the way we extract knowledge and insight from biological experiments
• Process, analyze, interpret, and visualize high volumes of data for the development and validation of approaches
• Serve as key point person for our existing AWS relationship
• Build and maintain scientific code base
• Written and oral presentation of results to team
• Generate and support intellectual property generation for core projects
• Mentor and train research associates as needed
• Monitor and evaluate analytical aspects of new and emerging technologies

Preferred Qualifications:
• PhD in computational biology, (bio)statistics, computer science, or a similar field
• Demonstrated experience with large-scale ‘omics and high throughput data analysis, network analysis, and meta analyses
• Skilled in programming and scripting languages (Python, R, C++, Java)
• Familiar with public domain data sources
• Experience in algorithm generation and/or computational method implementation
• Strong scientific understanding of molecular biology and genomics
• Motivated, curious, execution focused, team oriented, with an ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial and multidisciplinary environment
