Description

Four Fellowships in Health Data Research at QMUL
MRC UKRI Innovation / Rutherford Fund aligned with Health Data Research-UK Strategy
QMUL has received an MRC award to recruit three UKRI Innovation / Rutherford Fund research fellows in Health Data Research (HDR) and will contribute matched funding for one additional fellow on this programme. This prestigious award will support outstanding postdoctoral fellows who are ready to establish an independent research career.
Research Fellows will be presented with opportunities to develop outstanding Health Data Science (HDS) research careers supported by an enabling research environment, closely aligned with the priorities of HDR UK priority areas. They will have access to our international interdisciplinary research network which couples medical genomics with informatics and computer science to link and mine ‘big data’ present in electronic health records (EHRs). Our HDS strategy centres on an innovative partnership between QMUL and Barts Health NHS Trust, serving an ethnically diverse population of 1.5 million people across North East London, exploiting real world e-health data and spanning the patient life course across primary and secondary care.
QMUL has a long established record of interdisciplinary working across the faculties of medicine, biological sciences, engineering and computing, collectively representing world-leading partnerships that will provide Fellows with an internationally excellent training environment. Our key Research Organisation strengths reside in Barts and The London SMD (Medical School 5th in the 2014 REF), with informatics research synergies with computing, mathematics and engineering departments.
The post is a fulltime, fixed-term position for 3 years. Starting salary will be in the Grade 6 range £45,577 - £50,881 per annum dependent on experience and inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, a defined benefit pension scheme and an interest free season ticket loan.

QMUL requires that applicants invited for interview will need to provide all certificates to confirm their qualifications (specified in the Job Description).
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.

We strongly encourage applicants to discuss applications to this fellowship scheme and priority areas with the QMUL Rutherford Academy leads, Dr Michael Barnes (m.r.barnes@qmul.ac.uk) or Prof Claude Chelala (c.chelala@qmul.ac.uk)
