Tenure-Track Faculty Position In Systems Biology Or Bioinformatics

The Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor to join major initiatives in systems biology and bioinformatics that include significant growth in the Department of Molecular and Systems Biology. Exceptional candidates at the rank of Associate Professor may also be considered. The Department of Molecular and Systems Biology offers a dynamic and interactive environment, with a commitment to research excellence. Dartmouth faculty members benefit from highly collaborative and collegial interactions across campus, inclusive of departments at Geisel, Arts & Sciences, and the Thayer School of Engineering.

We seek outstanding applicants with vigorous and innovative research programs focused on computational systems biology, bioinformatics, genomics, epigenomics or single-cell analyses to understand complex problems related to neuroscience and behavior or, more broadly, cell, developmental or cancer biology. Successful candidates are expected to have a strong record of scholarship, to develop an independent research program, and to participate in graduate-level teaching. Evidence of the ability to secure extramural funding is desirable. Applicants should have a PhD, MD, or equivalent degree with relevant post-doctoral training.

A generous start-up package as well as access to state-of-the-art research facilities will be provided. Individuals will be given opportunities for mentorship and teaching of students in relevant PhD graduate programs (e.g., Program in Molecular and Cellular Biology, Program in Quantitative Biomedical Sciences, and the Program in Experimental & Molecular Medicine). Training grants (e.g. Molecular and Cellular Biology Training Grant and the Burroughs Wellcome Fund Big Data in the Life Sciences for Unifying Population and Laboratory-based Sciences Training Grant) are available to support trainees in areas relevant to successful candidates.

The successful candidate may, as appropriate, also have affiliations with the Neuroscience Center at Dartmouth, Norris Cotton Cancer Center (NCCC; one of 47 NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers); opportunities for innovative research method development and application through Dartmouth’s supercomputing networks (e.g., Discovery); access to Dartmouth’s Core Centers, Dartmouth’s Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSA; called Synergy); and may benefit from interactions with four existing NIH Centers for Biomedical Research Excellence (COBREs).
