Description

The Lane Fellow Program recognizes and supports scientists of outstanding intellect who are dedicated to a career at the interface of computational and biological sciences so that they can pursue postdoctoral research in the rich computational environment at Carnegie Mellon.

Lane Fellows will be selected for a three-year appointment beginning approximately August 1, 2018. They will receive a stipend of $65,000, benefits including medical, dental, vision and life insurance, and a professional support allocation of $3,000 to cover items such as purchase of a laptop computer, travel to conferences, membership in relevant professional societies, and journal subscriptions.

We seek to increase diversity among our fellows and faculty and very strongly encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply.

Qualifications

Absent special circumstances, applicants must have received their doctoral degree after August 1, 2015 or be expected to receive their degree by August 1, 2017. Candidates who have done prior Ph.D. or postdoctoral work at Carnegie Mellon are not normally considered.

How to Apply

Candidates should submit their Curriculum Vitae; a statement of research that describes the significance of their past work, their qualifications for interdisciplinary work, and their future interests and career goals; and the names and email addresses of up two or more individuals whom the applicant has asked to provide letters of reference (it is the responsibility of the candidate to ensure that the letters are sent). All materials should be submitted by email to fellownominations@compbio.cmu.edu.

Applicants can, but do not have to, specify a particular faculty member or members with whom they wish to work.

Applications should be submitted by March 15, 2018 in order for candidates to receive full consideration. Those received after this date will be considered if the review and interviewing schedule permits.
