Description

A postdoctoral position is available in the group of Mark Segal at UCSF. The position will involve developing and applying novel computational and statistical methods to address problems in conformational biology, in particular, surrounding 3D genome reconstructions derived from Hi-C and related data. Illustrative examples include devising techniques to (i) assess accuracy and reproducibility of 3D reconstructions, (ii) identify and interpret focal regions of extrema of genomic features superposed on 3D reconstructions, and (iii) investigate applications to single-cell data.

Qualifications

The applicant should have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in one of the following areas: Computer Science, Statistics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Mathematics, Biostatistics, or another discipline with strong quantitative background. Knowledge of molecular biology is highly desirable.
