Research Assistant Professor, Non-tenure Track
The Data Science and Informatics Core for Cancer Research (DSICCR) at the School of Biomedical Informatics (SBMI), the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), has a non-tenure track position in research, at the assistant professor level, in the areas of data science and bioinformatics. 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will be expected to plan, supervise, and direct data science and informatics research and service in bioinformatics, genomic medicine, and related fields. The candidate will provide technical expertise to facilitate the study, design, data collection, analysis pipeline development, data analysis, and results interpretation, as well as manuscript writing and grant proposal preparation. Collaborative research with faculty at UTHealth and other Texas institutions is included among the candidate’s responsibilities. 
 
The successful candidate will join a dynamic faculty at SBMI who are active in research, education, and applying informatics to clinical practice. UTHealth is in the world-renowned Texas Medical Center (TMC) located in cosmopolitan Houston, Texas, the fourth largest city in the United States. SBMI currently offers PhD and Master's degrees; it also features certificate programs in biomedical and health informatics.
 
APPOINTMENTS/BENEFITS: This position is a full time, 12-month appointment on the non-tenure track, renewable on a yearly basis. 


Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: The individual should possess a PhD in one of the following areas: bioinformatics, genomics, genetics, computational biology, biomedical informatics, computer science, medicine, biostatistics, or a related discipline. A record of verifiable, published research in bioinformatics and genomics is preferred. The potential for obtaining extramural funding is not required, but encouraged. Experience in mentoring and managing research groups is preferred. Excellent teamwork and communication skills are required.

SALARY:
Competitive and dependent upon qualifications and experience.
