Description

POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW – COMPUTATIONAL BIOLOGY OF NEUROPSYCHIATRIC DISORDERS

A postdoctoral position is open to applicants with strong computational biology/systems biology/bioinformatics/statistics backgrounds who are interested in applying their experience to study psychiatric disorders (autism and schizophrenia). The focus of the project is to utilize heterogeneous high-throughput datasets (RNA-Seq, single cell RNA-seq, proteomics) collected in the lab from cerebral organoids and animal models to discover networks and pathways involved in the brain disorders.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates must have a PhD and a demonstrated strong ability in bioinformatics, systems biology, sequence analyses, network analyses or genetics including expertise in high-throughput data analyses, such as RNA-Seq, single cell RNA-seq, differential gene expression analyses, gene co-expression analyses, proteomics. Strong programming skills (Python, R, Java or C++ and Unix/Linux shell) are required. The candidate should also be familiar with algorithms and tools, such as Bowtie, cufflinks, BWA, STAR, RSEM, UCSC Genome Browser, samtools, bedtools, vcf-tools etc. The knowledge of machine learning is a plus.

The successful candidate should have a demonstrated ability for independent and critical thinking, excellent communication and teamwork skills, and strong publication record (at least one first-author publication is required).
