Description

HJF is seeking a Research Scientist – Finite Element Analysis/Computational Fluid Dynamics to support the Structural and Fluid Mechanics group within the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command’s Biotechnology High Performance Computing Software Applications Institute (BHSAI) [www.BHSAI.org]. HJF provides scientific, technical, and programmatic support services to the BHSAI. This opening is for dynamic scientists interested in working in an interdisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities:

Develop and apply computational solutions to biomedical problems involving physiological modeling using finite element analysis (FEA) and/or computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
Analyze and model biomechanics data with relevance to, but not limited to, pulmonary health, bone health, heat transfer, and traumatic brain injury using FEA/CFD.
Work simultaneously on multiple projects, involving a diverse and interdisciplinary team of scientists across multiple laboratories.
Prepare research proposals, progress reports, and manuscripts for submission to scientific journals.
Present research methods and findings at appropriate scientific conferences.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: The candidate should have a Ph.D. in a related discipline, extensive computational experience, and a strong publication record. PLEASE APPLY ONLY IF YOU HAVE PROVEN COMPUTATIONAL BIOLOGY EXPERIENCE.

Minimum Education/Training Requirements: PhD in a related discipline required.

Experience: 0 – 2 years of experience to include computational experience.

Qualifications

Experience with a source code version control system (e.g., GitHub), an automated build tool (e.g., Gradle), and a continuous integration and continuous delivery server (e.g., Jenkins), knowledge and understanding of DevOp. Experience in structured query language (SQL) and relational database management systems (RDBMS) (e.g., Oracle), experience with both server-side and front-end technologies (e.g., Java Enterprise Edition, RDBMS, JavaServer Faces, and JavaScript-based frameworks and visualization libraries), developing Android and/or iOS mobile applications, hands-on experience with one or more integrated development environments (e.g., Eclipse, Android Studio, and Xcode).
