The Department of Quantitative Health Sciences (QHS) at the Cleveland Clinic main campus is searching for a doctoral level candidate to conduct independent research and collaborate with Cleveland Clinic investigators in areas related to bioinformatics and systems medicine. The successful candidate will join an active team of about 95 QHS bioinformaticians, biostatisticians, epidemiologists, outcomes researchers, analysts, database developers, and programmers working in a wide range of clinical areas and statistical methodologies. Candidates should have considerable experience collaborating on clinical or translational research in an academic health care setting, with examples of creative analytic approaches to complex problems in health care through proven records of collaborative publications. Evidence of external funding support, or potential for gaining such support, is required. Excellent academic writing and communication skills must be clearly demonstrated; verbal proficiency in the English language is required.

A PhD in bioinformatics or a related field is required. The candidate is expected to conduct independent research as well as to collaborate with other scientists at Cleveland Clinic. The candidate will be expected to help write collaborative research grant applications and manuscripts. Independent PhD level methodological research in a related area is expected. While the level of appointment is open, candidates must have at least 2 years of experience beyond the doctoral degree. More senior candidates will have opportunity for a leadership position, and building a bioinformatics program.
