Computational Biology group at the Faculty of Medicine and Life Sciences, University of Tampere invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral researcher position with possibility for extension. The planned commencement date for the position is January 1, 2018 or as mutually agreed.
Job description
A postdoctoral researcher position is available in development of cancer genomics analysis. Computational Biology group is part of the Center of Excellence in Tumour Genetics research and currently consists of 35 members with interdisciplinary and international backgrounds. Main responsibilities of the position are:
- Analysis and integration of large public and in-house generated cancer genomics datasets
- Development and application of large scale data analysis using cloud computing infrastructure
- Development of new algorithms for analysis of e.g. tumor evolution, selection in regulatory genome, or annotation of genome aberrations.
Main goal of the project is to develop new methods that enable extending the cancer genome analysis beyond state of the art.
Salary
The salary will be based on the demand level chart for the teaching and research staff of Finnish Universities. The preliminary level of demand is 5–6. In addition to the basic salary, a supplementary salary component will be paid according to the personal performance. Typically, the salary for a post-doc is around 3200-3500 EUR.
Four-month trial period applies for the appointed person.
