Description

Computational Biology group at the Faculty of Medicine and Life Sciences, University of Tampere invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral researcher position with possibility for extension. The planned commencement date for the position is January 1 2018 or as mutually agreed.

Job description

A postdoctoral researcher position is available in area of regulatory genomics. Computational Biology group is part of the Center of Excellence in Tumour Genetics research and currently consists of 35 members with interdisciplinary and international backgrounds. Main responsibilities are:
- Analysis of in house generated epigenetic data derived from primary tumor tissues (e.g. open chromatin data)
- Integration of chromatin information with genomic (WGS), transcriptomic (RNA-seq), and proteomic data (SWATH) from the same patients.
- Incorporation of data from public resources (e.g. Encode and The Cancer Genome Atlas) into the analysis
- Development of computational modeling of gene expression based on above mentioned data sources.

Aim of the project is to utilize tumor specific data from regulatory regions together with mathematical modeling of the regulatory networks to gain detailed understanding on how the genome aberrations generate the cancer phenotype through chromatin reorganization. Specifically we want to uncover the mechanisms that drive the aggressive lethal form of prostate cancer. Project is funded by the Academy of Finland.

Salary

The salary will be based on the demand level chart for the teaching and research staff of the Finnish Universities. The preliminary requirement level is 5–6. In addition to the basic salary, a supplementary salary component will be paid according to the personal performance. Typically, the salary for a post-doc is around 3200-3500 EUR.
