Description

Multiple postdoctoral positions are available in our lab at Cleveland Clinic in OH. We are interested in developing and applying machine learning and deep learning algorithms to study human disease. Our lab has access to Cleveland Clinic’s Electronic Health Records (~4 million patients, ~2 billion lab tests with well-structured data format), image (e.g., PET, MRI, CT Scan, H&E image), genomic (e.g., Whole Genome, Exome, Targeted gene panel, cell-free DNA, single cell), transcriptomic, microbiome, epigenetic, and other types of Omic data with very well annotated clinical outcome data.
The candidates will work on developing and applying machine learning and deep learning algorithms to build predictive models for:

1) Disease trajectory map (e.g., how and when people develop disease phenotypes? What’s relations among disease phenotypes?, how to prevent disease?) using the Cleveland Clinic’s very large, rich, and well structured EHR dataset.

2) Integrating EHR, genetic (e.g., WGS, WEX, RNA-seq, cell free DNA), and image data (e.g., H&E image) for more accurate diagnosis (e.g., skin cancer diagnosis using camera/app), prognosis and stratification for cancer patients.

3) Analyzing real-time Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and non-ICU data to predict patient outcomes/readmission using EHR, wearable devices, etc.

This list is not limited. Any interesting ideas which can ultimately help patients can be carried out from the candidates’ own interests.

Qualifications

Requirements: Candidates should have a recent Ph.D. in computer science, engineering, bioinformatics, statistics, biostatistics, computational biology, or related discipline. They should be familiar with analysis of EHR, Genomic, or Image data using R, Python, Matlab or similar programming languages. The candidates should have expertise in developing machine learning and/or deep learning algorithms.

Salary and Benefits: Salaries (~$65,000) and benefits are highly competitive.

Duration: 3 years with possible extension.
