University of Pittsburgh (location is flexible, see ad)
Computational and Systems Biology
United States PA Pittsburgh

Description

The Chikina lab at the Department of Computational and Systems Biology at the University of
Pittsburgh is looking to for a postdoctoral researcher to work on a DARPA funded project
“Epigenetic CHaracterization and Observation (ECHO)”.

The aim of the project is to build predictive models from high dimensional epigenomic data, with the ultimate goal of adapting these models for use in the field. The input data will consist of multiple single-cell datasets per subject and will require the development of innovative methods that can be applied in this ultra-high dimensional context. The successful candidate will work in a fast paced multidisciplinary environment and have access to unique single-cell epigenomic datasets.

The location of this position is flexible. Pittsburgh or New York City (Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai) is preferred. Telecommuting is an option for well qualified candidates.

Requirements:
-PhD in Computational Biology, Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics or a related
technical discipline.
-Ability to write down and solve machine learning/optimization problems
-Experience working with data
-Experience with single cell data is a plus
