Description

This project, funded by Pfizer Inc., is aimed at exploring potential applications of the recently developed deep learning-based techniques to predict protein structure from sequence (i.e. our own open-source DMPfold). The project will entail developing DMPfold further to handle large multi-domain proteins, and to use this new open-source tool in collaboration with Pfizer scientists on a small number of protein families of particular interest to their research. There will be opportunities to interact directly with Pfizer research scientists, including possible visits to their facilities in the US.

The post is funded for 2 years in the first instance.

Qualifications

Applicants should have or shortly expect to have a PhD in Bioinformatics or a closely related field, with experience of developing bioinformatics software, and publishing results in refereed journals. A high level of competence in bioinformatics software development in Python is essential, and ant prior experience of using deep learning methods would be desirable.
