We seek candidates who develop high-impact methodologies to address the statistical and computational challenges of “big data”, including (but not limited to) causal inference, probabilistic modeling, and/or high-dimensional statistics. The candidate will become a crucial part of Tufts’ rapidly-growing Data Intensive Studies Center (DISC) and would have opportunities to work closely with data-science focused faculty from Computer Science, Mathematics, Life Sciences and Medicine, and Electrical & Computer Engineering. Tufts is highly supportive of interdisciplinary research. The Computer Science department includes several faculty members with interests in computational biology and biomedical informatics who would be natural collaborators for this new hire.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in an appropriate field. Ideal candidates will have strong publication records in statistics or statistical machine learning venues, as well as experience in applying novel methods to domain-specific problems (e.g. in physical sciences, life sciences, social sciences, medicine).
