Applications are invited for a Post-doctoral Research Fellow or Senior Scientist position in the lab of Dr. Alexej Abyzov, Department of Health Science Research, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. The choice of research project will depend on the applicant's interests and skills, however, the area of research must be purely computational and focus on one of the following main fields of computational biology: genomic somatic mosaicism in human body, genome variants discovery and annotation (with emphasis on CNVs/SVs and mosaic variants), single cell omics (at genome, epigenome and transcriptome levels), functional genomics (understanding relationship between epigenome and transcriptome), and cancer evolution (from pre-cancer stage to metastasis).
Qualified candidates will need to demonstrate potential for research as evidenced by their training and peer-reviewed publications. The ideal applicant should have a Ph.D. in computational biology, bioinformatics or a related field, with experience in one of the aforementioned research areas. He or she should also be skilled in programming languages (e.g., C++, Java, Python, Perl, R, etc.) and using computers to solve biological problems. Oral and written proficiency in English will be an added advantage.
