We have an opening for a Postdoctoral Researcher to conduct research in the areas of computational systems modeling. Your research will focus on the development of a framework for modeling complex systems that takes advantage of the large-scale parallel computation capability. This position is in the Biochemical and Biophysical Systems group in the Biosciences and Biotechnology Division.
-Conduct research in computational systems modeling with a focus on development of new computational methodologies and tools for whole-cell modeling taking advantage of high-performance computing.
-Collaborate with others in a multidisciplinary team environment and other national laboratories and industry to accomplish research goals.
-Publish research results in peer-reviewed scientific or technical journals and present results at external conferences seminars and/or technical meetings.
-Pursue independent (but complementary) research interests and interact with a broad spectrum of scientists internally and externally.
-Perform other duties as assigned.
-Recent PhD in computer science, bioengineering, physics, mathematics or related field.
-Experience with parallel programming, including MPI, and Charm++.
-Experience with the latest C++ Programming language
-Understanding of the concept of optimistic parallel discrete event simulation.
-Proficient verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment and present and explain technical information.
-Familiarity with system-level modeling methods: SSA, ODE, and FBA.
-Experience in mathematical modeling of cellular phenomena.
-Understanding of the concepts of systems biology and/or whole cell modeling.
