The Department of Biological Sciences (www.albany.edu/biology), University at Albany, State University of New York, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the broad area of bioinformatics and systems biology. The applicant should have expertise in generating and analyzing large complex data sets that could be from next generation sequencing, mass spectrometry, high content imaging, large scale genomics or metabolomics experiments, among others, with a research program that has applications to human health. Candidates with expertise in nucleic acids, biochemistry or biomanufacturing are encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will join collaborative and dynamic colleagues in the University at Albany's Life Sciences Program (www.albany.edu/lifesciences). They will also contribute to the Department's graduate program in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and/or in Molecular, Cellular, Developmental, and Neural Biology. Initial salary and startup funds are competitive.
The successful candidate is expected to establish a sustained, externally funded research program that may include collaborative research. Applicants should have the ability to interact with a diverse faculty working across many research areas. Local opportunities for collaboration include faculty in the RNA Institute (www.rna.albany.edu), the School of Public Health (www.albany.edu/sph) as well as the New York State Department of Health (www.wadsworth.org).
Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent in biology, bioinformatics, computational biology or a related field from a university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization, at least two years of post-doctoral or applied experience, and a strong publication record.
