A bioinformatics research position is available in the Vaccarino laboratory (medicine.yale.edu/lab/vaccarino/) at the Child Study Center, Yale University School of Medicine to conduct data analyses for high throughput sequence data, primarily transcriptome and epigenome data. The Lab is involved in analyses of genes, transcripts and upstream regulatory elements in individuals with neuropsychiatric disorders using primary tissue and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) and iPSC-derived organoids. The level of the position will be commensurate with training and experience.
Duties/Responsibilities:
The role will involve working as part of the team to develop and implement existing bioinformatic pipelines including RNAseq, Chip-seq, ATAC-seq, single cell RNAseq, perform integrative analyses and deliver analytical outputs.
The candidate will be also required to develop and improve existing pipelines using new computational methods and to accommodate new experimental protocols.
The applicant will be expected to work and consult with colleagues concerning issues of data analysis and interpretation.
Requirements:
MS or PhD in Bioinformatics, Physics, Statistics or related field (PhD strongly preferred)
Experience in high throughput sequence data analysis
Programming skills (R or Python, Linux shell scripting)
Ability to work independently within a research team
Strong verbal and written skills
Preferences:
Critical thinking skills and familiarity with statistics (e.g. statistical distributions, significance tests, basic inference), and ability to apply them to diagnose and correct problems with pipeline implementations or downstream analyses.
Experience in developing workflows for sequencing data
Experience with high performance computing in Linux environment
Ability to multitask and work to tight timelines
