Description

The laboratory of Bioinformatics, Genome and Transcriptome Data Analysis and, Quantitative Oncology, Department of Urology, SUNY Upstate Medical University seeks a well-motivated Research Associate/Bioinformatician. He/She will be responsible for the assistance and development of computational and experimental innovative analyses of the RNA and DNA interacome(s), including R-loops, G-quadruplexes and other nucleic acid dynamical structures naturally occurred in normal and cancer cells. He\She will be involved in the next generation sequencing, wet lab and clinical studies and big data analysis, and maintain the bioinformatics tools of the laboratory.


Qualifications

Must have excellent programming skills in programming languages such as R, Python, C++ and knowledge of Apache, MySql, and PHP. Must be comfortable, working in a Unix/Linus operating system, write codes, multitask jobs while working mostly independently and exercising good judgment concerning meeting deadlines with ability to provide well-documented, reproducible and adequately interpreted results. Able to develop and use advanced statistical, machine learning and big data-related analytical tools. Experience and expertise in genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, biophysics or structural biology is strongly encouraged. Experience with genome and transciptome analytical methods and cloud servers is a plus. Must have strong communication and writing skills with the ability to interact with other researchers from diverse scientific backgrounds and provide a contribution towards publications in peer-reviewed journals. We enroll B.S. or M.S. with at least one-year professional experience and fresh Ph.D. in bioinformatics, systems biology, computer science, statistics, structural biology, genetics and relevant disciplines.
