We invite application for a position as a System Engineer (at the rank of Technical Officer) in the School of Biomedical Sciences (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal).
The appointee will assist in research activities and provide technical support to the School including the transfer and back-up of computer data, managing large data compression, and the set-up and maintenance of computer servers.

Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline, preferably with 2 years’ experience in the configuration and administration of Unix servers. Those with sound knowledge in commercial cloud computing platforms would be highly preferred. Applicants should have experience with scripting language (e.g. shell, perl, or python) and web technology (e.g. HTML5, CSS, PHP, and SQL). They should also be highly motivated, and able to work independently and as a team in a multi-disciplinary research environment. Fresh graduates with strong motivation to learn new skills in a dynamic interdisciplinary environment may also be considered.
