Staff Scientist in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology

Rutgers University
Center for Genome Informatics
United States NJ Newark

Description

We are looking for a motived individual to join our lab as a Staff Scientist to study RNA regulation using computational approaches.

He/she will use Bioinformatics and Computational Biology techniques to study RNA processing and metabolism, especially in human diseases. Extensive collaboration with experimental scientists in and outside the lab is expected. The successful candidate may also need to develop novel algorithms for specific genomic analyses. Qualifications: Masters degree in Bioinformatics or Computational Biology.

Our lab uses molecular biology, genomics, and computational approaches to study RNA biology, focusing on the mechanisms and consequences of alternative cleavage and polyadenylation (APA), and its interplays with other gene regulatory mechanisms, such as transcriptional dynamics, epigenetics, and mRNA metabolism. Detailed research topics and publications can be found at tianlab.org.

Interested individuals should contact Dr. Bin Tian by email (btian@rutgers.edu) with a CV including a summary of previous research and contact information of 2-3 referees. We offer competitive salary and employee benefits. The salary will be commensurate with experience.

Our lab is located in Northern New Jersey, which is in close proximity to New York City. Many scientific and educational opportunities are available in the NY/NJ metropolitan area, as well as cultural, entertainment and sports activities. Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is a leading national research university and the state’s preeminent, comprehensive public institution of higher education.
