Technical Officer in the School of Biomedical Sciences (Ref.: 493856).
We are looking for a technical officer to assist in research activities and provide technical support to the School including the transfer and back-up of computer data, managing large data compression, and the set-up and maintenance of computer servers. The position is to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal.
Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline, with at least 2 years’ work experience in the Unix operating system, scripting language (e.g. shell, perl, or python) and web technology (e.g. HTML5, CSS, PHP, and SQL). Those with sound knowledge in commercial cloud computing platforms would be highly preferred. Applicants should also be highly motivated, and able to work independently and as a team in a multi-disciplinary laboratory environment.
