Description

Summary: We are seeking postdoctoral and research applicants with interests in addressing fundamental questions in development and cancer using innovative single-cell genomic approaches.

The Hon lab at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas combines experimental and computational biology to functionally assess the human genome in the context of development and cancer. To address this challenge, we take a systems biology approach: developing and applying innovative approaches at the interface of gene regulation, epigenetics, functional genomics, and bioinformatics. Current projects include a comprehensive functional evaluation of GWAS SNPs in cancer cells and systematic rational reprogramming of human cell types. Long-term, we aim to develop a predictive understanding of how our genome functions and how we can engineer it for biomedical applications.

Qualifications

We are seeking new colleagues (post-docs and research staff) with diverse training experiences, and we are especially excited about individuals with experience in:
1. genomics and gene regulation
2. stem cell and developmental biology
3. cancer biology
4. computer science

We especially value motivated, creative, adventurous, and collaborative individuals. Crazy ideas are a plus. We firmly believe that the modern biologist should be adept at experimentation as well as computation, and we are committed to training these scientists to succeed as future independent investigators.
