Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center
United States NY NEW YORK

Description

A postdoctoral position (bioinformatics) is available at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. Our group studies non-coding variation in human cancer, evolution of tumor genomes, and response to immunotherapy.

The successful candidate should be familiar with bioinformatics tools/pipelines and will develop novel predictive/statistical methods to analyze large-scale genomics data, including whole-genome sequencing, RNA-Seq, methylation, etc.
Some of our previous work can be found here:

www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25261935

This role is an opportunity to collaborate closely with wet lab scientists and physicians. A track record of peer-reviewed publications and/or conference presentations is expected.

Responsibilities
- Integrate various genomics data types by applying statistical methods
- Use existing tools and pipelines to analyze large-scale cancer genomics data (whole genome/exome, RNA-Seq, CHiP-Seq, etc.)
- Develop new methods (using data integration/visualization) to address scientific questions

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center is one of the leading cancer centers in the world. Our main campus occupies three city blocks in the heart of New York City, next to The Rockefeller University and Weill Cornell Medicine. Outside of primary research interests this community offers postdocs opportunities to develop academic and professional collaborations, and to participate in weekly events organized by the postdoc society. Compensation is very competitive and includes health insurance and other benefits.

Qualifications

- PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or related field
- Interest in cancer biology and genomics
- Experience analyzing genomics data
- Proficiency in R, MATLAB, or other programming languages (e.g. Python, Java, etc.)
- Solid understanding of molecular biology
- Experience with cloud computing/compute cluster environments is a plus
- Experience with TCGA/1000 Genomes/ENCODE or other genomics data is a plus
